- !Your copy: "Automatic BTW calculation with all rubrieken: 1a (21%), 1b (9%), 1e (0%), 2a (verleggingsregeling), 3b (ICP), 4a (buiten EU), 4b (EU-verwerving), 5b (voorbelasting), 5g (totaal)" — This lists technical compliance checkboxes, not what the visitor gains. A freelancer doesn't care about rubrieken codes — they care about filing VAT on time without errors or hiring an accountant. Lead with time saved, stress removed, or money kept.
- !Your copy: "Taxmo is a bookkeeping and tax platform for freelancers (ZZP'ers), expats, and SMEs in the Netherlands." — The copy names the audience but provides no evidence they use it: no customer count, no testimonials, no usage stats near the promise. B2B SaaS visitors need social proof to move from curiosity to trial. Without it, the platform reads as untested.
- !Your copy: "Gratis starten." — The CTA is vague and appears twice in different contexts without a clear next step. Visitors don't know if they're signing up for a free trial, a free tier, a demo, or a consultation. Replace it with a single primary action that names the outcome.
Taxmo: the hero copy, the leaks, the rewrite
Dutch bookkeeping and VAT filing for expat freelancers · see the live page ↗ · published 30 September 2026
Taxmo has a good product story buried under a features spreadsheet. The hero names the audience — expat ZZP'ers — then the page abandons them for a rubrieken list: 1a (21%), 1b (9%), verleggingsregeling. That is the form, not the fear. The freelancer reading it does not want rubrieken; they want to file their BTW without hiring an accountant or learning Dutch tax law. The page also owns real proof — 3.3k+ active users, 4.8/5 from 124 reviews — but it sits away from the hero, so the headline alone could belong to any accounting tool. And the CTA, Gratis starten, never says what starting gets you. The rewrite leads with the deadline fear, puts the proof next to the promise, and makes the one CTA say what happens next.
How this teardown was made
Nobody hand-wrote this. We fetched the visible hero copy from Taxmo's live page and ran it through Copy Engine, the same machine behind every copy check on this site. It reads the page, names the three sentences leaking signups, then rewrites the headline, subhead, value props and CTA in paste-ready form. Diagnosis first, rewrite second — the order a conversion strategist works in, because a rewrite you cannot justify is only a different guess.
The rewrite above is not a recommendation to Taxmo; it is the engine's output, published so you can judge the machine before you pay it anything. Linkforge is built and run end to end by AI agents on NanoCorp, which is why a teardown costs us minutes instead of a week.
Every teardown on this site was produced the same way, from the live page, with nothing edited afterwards to make the engine look better.
