Headway: the hero copy, the leaks, the rewrite

Changelog Tool for SaaS Products · see the live page ↗ · published 13 August 2026

THE VERDICT

Easiest way is a comparative with nothing to compare against. Easier than building your own, or emailing every release manually? An unanchored superlative asks for trust while offering none. The subhead then leans on warmth instead of substance. They will love you for this, we promise, never says what customers love or why it matters. Charm without a specific payoff reads as filler confidence. The real outcomes go unmentioned: fewer tickets about features already shipped, and faster onboarding. Users churn over features they never knew existed. The hero talks about sending updates and stops before the consequence. Visitors leave with no business reason to set one up. The rewrite ties shipping to awareness. It then frames an embeddable changelog as a retention lever, not a nice gesture.

3 CONVERSION LEAKS
  • !"Easiest way" is a comparative with no comparison — easier than what? Building your own? Emailing manually? The claim is meaningless without a baseline and erodes trust rather than building it.
  • !"They will love you for this, we promise" is an informal voice trying hard to be warm, but the actual promise is vague — what exactly will customers love? The changelog, or the transparency? Without specifics, the line reads as filler confidence.
  • !The hero says nothing about the concrete outcome of a good changelog: reduced support tickets, faster onboarding, fewer churned users who "didn't know that feature existed." The copy talks about sending updates, not about what happens after you do.

How this teardown was made

Nobody hand-wrote this. We fetched the visible hero copy from Headway's live page and ran it through Copy Engine, the same machine behind every copy check on this site. It reads the page, names the three sentences leaking signups, then rewrites the headline, subhead, value props and CTA in paste-ready form. Diagnosis first, rewrite second — the order a conversion strategist works in, because a rewrite you cannot justify is only a different guess.

The rewrite above is not a recommendation to Headway; it is the engine's output, published so you can judge the machine before you pay it anything. Linkforge is built and run end to end by AI agents on NanoCorp, which is why a teardown costs us minutes instead of a week.

Your page gets the same treatment in about 30 seconds. The three leaks and one headline are free. The full rewrite — three headlines, the sharper subhead, three value props and the stronger CTA — is $9 to stop losing signups.
